Trip to Ohio

Calla took her first plane ride on Tuesday and did great. She slept most of the first plane ride, 3.5 hours, with about 30 minutes of happy time. The second plane ride she get fussy only about the last ten minutes, not bad for a trip all the way across the country. We are having a wonderful time showing Calla off to all of her cousins, aunts, uncles, grandpa, and lots and lots of friends. We have been very busy but wanted to share a few pictures of our adventures so far. In addition too our traveling adventure, Calla has also recently started sleeping through the night. She has been sleeping between 5.5-7 hours a night for the last week, that was until last night when she barely slept 2. A new place and a new bed made her a little upset. Enjoy these pictues and more to come.

We have been busy and having fun with Grandma in town. First we had to train her and now Calla loves getting her bottle from Grandma. Grandma and Calla have been hanging out during the day while Courtney and I have been going to the office, so Grandma and Calla have been getting lots of bonding time all alone without Mom and Dad trying to hold Calla also.

Then last night we all took Calla to her first concert, it was an outdoor concert at the Orgon Zoo in Portland with Emmylou Harris. It was a lot of fun and we had some drinks and a picnic dinner. Emmylou sounded great and she had an amazing band playing with her. Our friend Marlies from Olympia happened to be in town so she joined us for the show. Calla did great for the first half of the show, but I think she got a little tried torwards the end and mom and Calla had to walk around for a bit.

Thanks for the milk Grandma Lynda.

Mom, are you sure that is how it all works?

Having fun at the concert.

Grandma Lynda's visit

Grandma Lynda is here in Corvallis visiting her 1st grandchild from Tucson. We can no longer get a hold of her now, Grandma Lynda will not let go of her! As you can see from the pictures below, I think she is having a good time bonding with Calla. We are going to put Grandma to work this week taking care of Calla while Courtney ventures back to work for a couple of days. Courtney is going to Salem one day and has a couple of meetings in Corvallis this week to start getting back into the swing of things again.

Hi Grandma Lynda, do you want to hang out today?

Calla was in a great mood this morning so we did a short photo shoot. She has finally grown into her newborn and 0-3 month cloths. She is very excited to be able to dip into her now expanded wardrobe.

Look at those beautiful eyes and chubby cheeks!!

Calla is beginning to move around alot, she is a wriggle worm!

Calla is making more and more facial expressions and is starting to make cooing sounds!

Calla is now starting to get tired.

Fun in the Sun

My best friend Leslie and her son Devin came for a visit over the weekend. We had a great time, through Devin through Calla slept too much. THey brought Calla a baby pool so we beat the heat for a little while on Saturday with a dip in the pool. Calla was not sold on the experience, but it was fun. Grandma Lynda comes on Saturday and we are all very very excited. Calla continues to sleep really really well. Calla usually wakes up around 6am and then is asleep again between 8:30 and 9 and usually sleeps until noon. She then has lunch and usually sleep from 1:30 until 4:30. Then is awake until she goes o bed around 9pm. She then ususlly does two three hour stretches at night. She is a GREAT little girl. She is three month old today and is probably right at 8lbs. Starting the first week in August I will return to work part-time for one month and then full-time in September, I am ready, but my time at home has gone really fast. She changes everyday and she an amazing little girl!

Calla does not have an "outie" belly button, but it is a herniated belly button that will probably not heal for several years. It gets really big when she cries.

Calla has been very busy since Grandma Cindy left. On Friday we had a BBQ to celebrate the 4th of July with some friends. We had a 3month old (Calla), a 7 month old, and an almost 2yr old, their parents, and even one couple without kids. Our lives have certainly changed over the last year.
On Monday we made our last visit to the ophthalmologist in Eugene and she got a clean bill of health on her retina development. This was her last health obstacle and we are happy to see our little daughter developing so well and so healthy!!!

Calla is now getting on somewhat of a schedule. She wakes up around 6am everyday and then takes a 3 hour nap from 9-12. I love this time because I can get lots of work done around the house and sometimes even take a nap. Here are a few pictures of the last few days. Enjoy!!

Calla loves to be upright and to look around at everything around her. She even showed Grandma a first tentative smile!

This is our friend Billie and Calla. Billie and Calla are going to hang out while Scott and I are at work in August.

Calla loves to "hang-out" in her favorite chair.

The very first toy that Calla showed any interest in was this elephant from her soon to be Aunt Charlotte. Thanks!!

We had to say bye to Grandma Cindy tonight. She had a great visit and we really enjoyed having her around to lend a helping hand, especially while I was traveling. We had lots of good times with her and I think "the girls" enjoyed their time together. She will look back on this trip with lots of good memories, but with one especially memorable night while she was here.
Mom and Dad picked a great night to go on a date night while Grandma Cindy babysat. Calla had been a little "backed-up" for a couple of days and she picked the evening that Grandma Cindy and her were all alone to take care of the issue. As Grandma Cindy put it, Calla had poop all over her from hair line to the tips of her toes. So Cindy had to do give Calla a impromptu bath in the bathroom sink and do some laundry. When we came back home and noticed the laundry going we commented that it must have been a relaxing evening for Cindy if she was able to do some laundry for us, boy were we wrong! So while Grandma Cindy was dealing with 3 days of Calla's "back-up" issues, Courtney and I were enjoying drinks and a great dinner along the waterfront in downtown Corvallis, THANKS GRANDMA CINDY!!

Grandma Cindy enjoying some last moments with Calla.

Calla loves looking at her favorite elephant "Pokey" that was given to her soon to be Aunt Charolette.
