It has been hot here the last few days so we have all been trying to beat the heat. I Think Calla had the best options, she only has to wear a diaper and she gets to sleep all day!

Calla's Due Date
Well yesterday was Calla's actual due date. She went to the doctor and got her first shots, she handled them like a pro, she has had a few needle sticks since she was born. She weighed in at 6lbs 13oz and 20 1/2 inches long. She would have been right on target if she had waited another 10weeks to be born. As I sit and hold her and think about what has happened, and what could have been, I am so thankful for our beautiful, healthy daughter and all the moments we have shared over the last 10 weeks and the amazing people we met through this process. It has been an amazing adventure.
Scott left yesterday morning after the Dr. appt for a 9 day work trip, this will be his longest time away from Calla. Below is a picture of them having some bonding time Monday morning.

Calla also had some visitors yesterday. Renee and her daughter Ella came for a visit. Ella enjoyed holding little Calla.
Calla is having more and more awake time. This is lots of fun for me.

Heart Check-up
Calla had her doctor's appointment with a pediatric heart specialist on Tuesday and she got a big thumbs up. The doctor could no longer hear the heart mummer that was heard while we were at the hospital. He felt that her Ventricular Septal Defect (a few holes between the two lower chambers of the heart) have closed up as the muscles got bigger. So we will have our doctor continually listen for a mummer, but if nothing is heard we are in the clear and it should not be a problem. YEAH!!
We had a great visit with Uncle Steve the last few days. He flew back to Flagstaff this morning. He had a good time holding and bonding with little Calla.

Cousin's Visit
We had a visit from my cousins Mark, Delores, and their daughter Ruby on their way to a wedding in Oregon and to do some camping. That is the second family member this week, I guess Oregon is a popular June wedding destination. So Calla got to meet her second cousin, Ruby, who got to pick the outfit that Calla wore today and she dressed her in her favorite color, Pink. Ruby brought Calla some nice new pink shoes with elephants on them that Calla is going to have to grow into.
We had a great visit last night over some Oregon wine and some homebrew and then this morning we went out to breakfast and to our local Farmer's Market, our biggest outing to date with Calla. She did great and slept the entire time.
We will hopefully see the cousins again on their way back to the airport, but for now we are getting ready for Uncle Steve to visit again for the next couple days.

Great-Great Grandma's Quilt
Before Calla was born I received a quilt in the mail from my Grandpa. This quilt was started by Calla's great-great gradma and was finished by Calla's great-grandma. Calla's great-grandma was the person that inspired me to become a quilter and passed away just before I finished my first full size quilt a couple of years ago. The quilt in hanging in her bedroom, but we took it down for a photo shoot today.

Uncle Steve
Uncle Steve was able to meet his first niece today. He is visiting Oregon this week to go to a good friends wedding this weekend on the coast and then to spend some time with his new niece. He stopped by today on his way to the wedding destination to meet Calla. He will be back to stay for several days next week. As you can see Calla is quite comfortable with her Uncle Steve. Calla was weighed again today and she is up to 5 lbs. 12 oz.!
Getting ready for a late night feeding with dad.
What a cute foot.
Aspen (the white dog) and her friend Lorretta playing together. We just want everyone to know that Aspen is not being ignored and she is getting along with her little sister really well.
